From molecules to organisms

Research at the Department of Biology stands out in virtue of the variety of topics addressed here. Examples include organelle biogenesis, regulation of mitosis, tissue regeneration in fish, adaptations of plants to extreme environment conditions, and biodiversity in tropical rain forests.

The department regularly earns top positions in the DFG funding ranking thanks to the quality of our research. The research modules and final theses completed by our students allow them to get involved in research projects at an early stage.
